Special events for Oktoberfest on October 6

Join the Alfred Farmers Market for the second annual Oktoberfest on Sunday, October 6th.

All Day Long

  • Live music by local band Sound Foundation, featuring Jim and Mary Ruch of Almond, Bob and Gena Decker of Belmont, and George Johnson of Wellsville.
  • Children’s activities organized by the Box of Books Library. Children can decorate and take home a pumpkin. There will also be games and face painting. All activities are free.
  • Go shopping! Each week from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm the market offers fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, bread, pasture raised meats, baked goods, honey, maple syrup, locally-made crafts and more.

Horse drawn wagon rides
The Alfred University Equestrian Center will offer free wagon rides around the AU campus.

12:30 pm – 1:30 pm
Karate and Tai Chi Demonstrations
Shihan Elise Flynn of Alfred Martial Arts will host a karate demonstration. After the karate demo, stay around and catch a glimpse of the quiet beauty of the ancient art of Tai Chi, led by Master Guifung Lui.

2:00 pm
Baking contest judging
Bring us your favorite pumpkin or apple dessert. This can be in the form of cookies, pies, muffins, cakes, scones, breads, etc. Let your imagination run wild! The only requirement is that the prominent ingredient be either pumpkin or apple. Prizes will be awarded. There will be a special category for bakers twelve and under. So get the whole family involved and bring down your favorite sweet treat.
