2017 Annual Report

CaptureDear Alfred Farmer Market family,
The 2017 season was a time of innovation, a time of change, and a time of growth for the Alfred Market. There were many beautiful moments that occurred throughout the season, and I would like to go over the season’s highlights. Click here to view our 2017 Annual Report!
We continuously learn from previous years in order to give our market customers the best possible experience. Our goal is to connect producers and consumers, and make the market a place that is conducive to a sustainable food system here in Allegany County.

Artist Recipe Project is coming to the Farmers Market!

p3You Qi Art Project is a business member of 1% for the Planet. Qi with her group Artist Recipe Project is hosting an event at The Alfred Farmers Market, on September 24th.
Artist Recipe Project has been working on the synthesis of creative thinking and the practical nature of inventive cooking to compile artworks in the form of recipes from one hundred artists into a single publication. Artist Recipe Project collects recipes made by artists. These recipes are from creative edible flavors, artists expressions through food, to recipes for their own works. We imagine that the art practices and productions, melting into daily moments, create a new form of media.
After becoming more involved with an international community of artists, farmers and local businesses, Artist Recipe Project has created an event, inviting local media artist Matthew Underwood along with the founder Qi You and William Contino to present a new experience of the melding of both visualization and seasonal tastes for the Sunday Alfred Farmers Market.
Matthew Underwood as a media artist, has exhibited his work internationally, including the College of Fine Arts Shanghai University, ZKM, and the European Media Art Festival in Germany. More recently he has shown extensively with RK Projects in Providence, Rhode Island. He has had various residencies at Signal Culture, The Experimental Television Center, and the Institute for Electronic Arts.
Supported by Alfred Farmers Market, The Rogue Carrot Natural Groceries, Living Acres Farm, Little Sicily, and 1% for the Planet.
Special thanks to Matthew Underwood, Cassandra Bull and all the encouraging energy.
